CHILDREN'S SERVICES Early Intervention
Researchers now know that 60% of all brain development occurs between birth and three years old. Basic verbal and language skills are developed as well as sensory and cognitive abilities. Without early intervention programs, at risk infants are much more likely to require restrictive and costly special education services.
A recognized leader in early childhood education, Easter Seals Northern California has been providing early intervention in Marin, Sonoma and Lake Counties. Ours is a family-centered model that takes a holistic approach to service since we recognize caring for a child with special needs can be stressful. We see our role as providing parent education and tapping other community resources to complement Easter Seals' services.
Our early interventionists, many of whom are bilingual, provide support in the child's natural environment -- the home. Some locations also offer center-based programs to facilitate the transition to public or private school. Group activities stimulate language and listening, facilitate gross and fine motor development and promote self-help skills.
